2015 McLaren P1 GTR created based on luxury hybrid supercar P1. New version in many respects surpassed its predecessor, the engine of hypercar is 1000-horsepower electro-gasoline.

The McLaren company has unrevealed the preproduction version of its racing supercar P1 GTR before its official debut in the framework of the Geneva Auto show.

GTR suffix has the following story: these letters stormed in racing history in 1995, when the McLaren team entered in 24-hour race of Le Mans for the first time and won it on supercar F1 GTR.

As suggested by the creators, the McLaren P1 GTR has to become the fastest model yet of this brand. Thanks to a great job on the weighting loss and optimize gasoline-electric power unit, the McLaren P1 GTR will be able to boast of higher power in comparison with predecessors and become one of the most mighty superhybrids.


McLaren P1 GTR is positioned as the “world’s best driver’s car on the track”. Through the use of several measures to reduced weight, such as installation of side Windows made of polycarbonate and carbon-fiber panels on the rooftop and in the engine compartment, the model is 100 pounds lighter. Double car exhaust pipe made of Inconel alloy (Nickel-chrome superalloy and titanium) making them weigh 15 pounds lighter than traditional counterparts.

Serial track hybrid McLaren P1 GTR goes on special 19-inch wheels with Central fastening (like all racing cars) and special Pirelli tires.

Such technologies are used in the Formula-1.

2015 McLaren P1 GTR specifications

Track car turned out to be 80 mm wider and 50 mm lower than the standard model. Old wheels were replaced with racing wheels with centering on the hub with a diameter of 19 inches, shod in Pirelli slicks. The back has a large fixed wing, raised to 400 mm above the posterior part of the body. It increases downforce up to 600 pounds at 240 kmh.

Gasoline and 3.8L V8 engine with two turbines was subjected to refinement by using racing technology and now develops 800 HP. Recoil works in conjunction with it the motor was brought to 200 horsepower. The combined capacity of 1000 “mares” (735,5 kW)


2015 McLaren P1 GTR release date

P1 GTR hypercar will be available only to owners of the McLaren P1.

The price of the car, scheduled to release a “limited edition” starting from 1.98 million British pounds ($3.3 million).

Together with the supercar McLaren P1 GTR clients of the brand will be eligible for participation in a special program that includes a test session on the GB Silverstone, race laps in Spain at the Circuit de Catalunya, access to the P1 GTR simulator and individual driving profiling lessons at McLaren Technology centre, which includes communication with the chief designer Frank Stephenson, fitness team consultations etc.

In Geneva will be presented McLaren P1 GTR, body painting which inspired racing McLaren F1 GTR race car (chassis #06R) 1990-ies, which took part in the “24 hours of Le Mans”.

McLaren P1 GTR is scheduled to enter mass production in mid-2015.
